The SporTube Series II Double Ski Case is a 2-pair, wheeled hard ski case that delivers the ultimate in protection. The SporTube Series II Double Ski Case is a high-density polyethylene plastic shell case that holds 2 pairs of shaped or powder skis up to 207 cm, plus poles. It is designed to be lightweight while being strong and durable. The Series II Double Ski case includes a shoulder strap, four rubber brake retainers, and suitcase-style wheels for maximum convenience. When packed inside the SporTube, your skis are held together by four nylon straps and kept secure in the ski case by two internal straps that are riveted to the case. The SporTube Series II includes a wire clip to ensure the case stays closed, as airports no longer allow padlocked luggage. This product does exactly what it promises! It protects your investment from damage caused by bagage machines and handlers. I have nearly $2000 in 2 pair of skis, bindings, and poles, and have used mine for 3 seasons now and have never had a problem with it.The skis are secured by velcro for support, the bindings are rubberbanded in an upward direction, and the top fits snuggly over the skis and are locked by a D-ring type apparatus into a variety of heights. I recommend placing a security lock so to avoid curiousity seekers, as the feds must put it back together should they decide to open the unit. In short, this unit- to my knowledge is the only unit that is approved by the airlines where they will insure the contents of your skis. Read the fine print before you fly if you decide to travel with the cheaper soft cases.

I purchased a sports tubeII. I checked them in Alburquerque for flight to Austin. When I claimed the tube with 2 sets of skis it was open. The tube is difficult to close when loaded with my heavy race skis and takes 3-4 minutes before you engage the 2 halves. Apparently the inspectors at Alburquerque chose to open it but did not want to hastle with the closing process. The lock pin was inserted in a hole and nothing was lost. skis and set of poles are velcroed into the unit -
